23 years ago today....

baby Alla decided she needed to see the world, to experience life, love, pain, happiness. And there she went down the love tube of her mother and into the hands of some handsome Russian obgyn. After a brief stint in the baby room, Alla was whisked away to the streets of Moscow where red was always a hip color and waiting for bread was just what you did.

One fine day, the Zlotnikov's had enough Rusky love and picked up and high tailed it to Brooklyn, bringing little Alla with them. It was there she grew up to be an upstanding young American Citizen.

Today, our friend is 23.

did you mean "Allah is 23"?

Happy Birthday Alla Zlotnikov!

If I ever have a band or a bar or a gallery, or fuck, anything that needs to be named, that name will be Flyboy and Scientist. This was a clip of a headline from a review of Flight: the rise and fall of charles lindberg, from the nytimes a few weeks back.

i know i know, i'll have 2 kiddies. "Hey flyboy, come get your peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Scientist, get off the damn couch with those dirty sneakers!"

ok jesus, I'm going to bed now. blog happy

craft night begins! (cont'd)

Does anyone really know how to shorten continued? Here you see the other piece created during the first 293 craft night by the very talented Lauren aka Sneak. This is a series of 3 blind drawings of Urbana. As you can see, the theme of the night was "Draw eachother." This 3 part series is done on paper using pencil, marker, and acrylic.

This piece will also be available for purchase at the opening. Thanks.

well friends, we finally did it. Craft night at 293 started with a painting and a drawing. This, to your right, is a portrait of Lauren by Urbana. Its about a 16x20 acrylic on canvas. Currently, the portrait is hanging in the 293 gallery. Once the collection grows, we'll probably throw some sort of opening with free beer n shit.

You can purchase any of the craft night pieces you see with certified check or money order. Sorry, no credit cards.

Visions of Urbana

Sometimes I have visions of us when we're all successful. I imagine what our very cool offices are going to be like when we run magazines. Big comfy couches, interesting coffee tables, tons of cool art and objects all around. Big lcd hd tv screen. Nice computers and like way too much fun.

looking forward to it.
much love
